Ah...not exactly. I was reading an interview with Canada’s newly minted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife recently, in which she revealed that at the end of their first dinner date Justin said to her:
“I’m 31 years old and I’ve been waiting for you for 31 years.”
Wow. Real guys don’t actually say stuff like that, do they? I was so impressed, I made it into this cool window pane graphic, which I hoped to be worthy of the message.
Sadly, the reality is, most guys would never say anything like that and Blake, the hero of Once In A Blue Kentucky Moon, is no different.
As the eldest of seven siblings, Blake was forced to step up and take over the family farm when his father passed away years ago and he’s been carrying the weight of the world on his broad shoulders ever since. Now, he’s facing the real and immediate threat of losing the family farm under his management. So you can imagine whispering sweet nothings in a girl’s ear is about the furthest thing from his mind.
But under that tough exterior, Blake is a complete sucker for the woman he loves. The trouble is, like a lot of guys, getting in touch with his feelings isn't exactly his strong point. Like a lot of us, sometimes it takes losing the thing we love, to figure out what or 'who' in this case, is really important to us.
I hope you enjoy getting to know Blake as much as I have, as well as the rest of his siblings in the stories to come.
